1 Introduction
In TennisManager you can find several targets which you could try to achieve. You will be very pleased if one of your tennis players wins the tournament, if one of your teams wins the league and advances, or if you come across a skilled 9-year-old tennis player whom you can train, toward a lifetime of successful participation in the world biggest and most financially supported tennis tournaments. You might want to attempt advancing your tennis players toward gaining a national or world ranking in singles and doubles play. Next you can try to build up the biggest tennis complex in the country, manage 6 teams at the same time or apply marketing schemes to attract new membership.
Don’t forget that your opponents are not computers; they are real people, like you, from all over the world so that you can invite teams to compete in private tournaments which you arrange to be played there. Your tennis club disposes of female, male, junior and juvenile teams.
The season lasts for 24 weeks. Expect to hand new nomination for the league in, making contracts with players, election of national trainers etc. throughout the first week.
You mustn't forget to lead economy of the club. Expect the unexpected and always have a financial surplus available. Balancing costs and profits is vitally important to being able to smoothly run your facility. Your establishment shall maintain a steady incoming cash flow which always needs to be greater than the amount necessary to cover the financial responsibilities.
The responsibilities of a TennisManager never end, so do not expect to get caught up and have everything work perfectly. Besides the normal routine, you must always be open to the possibility of expanding your facility.
1.1 How to begin
After assembling your tennis playing team, read the manual's "training section" to properly decide how to properly prepare your team of 7 players, utilizing 2 trainers. Consider all offered advice carefully to avoid making costly mistakes at the beginning of a season. Reconsider training strategies concerning how to prepare your team for the season. Player energy levels will be influenced by training intensity levels.
Training must be handled precisely and efficiently. Think of your tennis players from whom you should realize profit upon their subsequent sale. You don't want to waste, nor do you want to sparingly offer any portion of training which is required to be able to your tennis players up for sale as around tennis player packages, when the time is right.
Your club's properly trained team will be automatically entered into the proper regional tournament league.
To assure your club's financial stability throughout the season and avoid going bankrupt, be sure that you have planned your expenses to allow coverage of everything necessary for your building and grounds maintenance, sales inventory, tennis team players, your training staff, and all of the expected comforts demanded by club members and a viewing public (several rows of seat around the first 5 tennis courts is a sound investment because spectators will fill them during league matches).
Note: Read the "Financial section" for information about various financial situations.
When finances allow and not before, your club can consider hiring new employees, making building improvements or new construction, or any other purchases needed to offer necessary player-support. By this phase of the game, it is up to you to choose which direction to take your club.
Note: We recommend that you read and become familiar with what your options are in each section of our manual before attempting to begin any phase of TennisManager.
2 Players and their training
A player represents the key to your success. His developing of skills and preparations for the top events are up to you. The player has several types of qualities. They are divided into those qualities that enable their next training, to those qualities that are not trainable, to natural hidden and visible qualities.
To the trainable qualities belong the strokes (forehand, backhand, volley, lob, smash, half volley, stoopball and service) and additional qualities (power, condition, speed and psyche). You can upgrade those qualities by the training.
Among the not trainable qualities belongs 'showman' (it is a quality of an ability of the player to attract the attention of audience) and a personality of the player (that influences the team spirit). You cannot influent or change those qualities anyway.
To the hidden qualities belong a talent (that means the speed of improvement in skills of the player during the training) and a type of fluctuation of fitness. Every player has the fluctuation of his fitness preset as it is in the reality. In spite of that fact, you got several possibilities how to keep the fitness at the highest level for instance by the suitable training or by the number of played matches in a week.
The player has also special qualities like energy, health and experience.
The energy increases and decreases by the daily programme which you prepare for the player. The match (and it's time duration) with the confrontation of player's condition mean the main reduction of the energy.
The health expresses the ability of the player to go to the match. As far as he is not healthy he cannot do that. There exist several types of injuries which the player can prevent from quite well thanks to the high-class facility of an areal, physiotherapists and not so demanding match's programme. Even though you fulfil all of the conditions pointing at the good trim of the player, there is always some chance of accidental injury.
You can set an injured player to the match but if they are injured also on the match day they are not playing the match and automatically lose by default. If the same happen to your opponent the winner is chosen by lot.

2.2 Training
It serves the purpose of improving the skills of players. There are two basic types of training available, the tennis one and additive one. By the tennis one you improve the strokes (forehand, backhand, volley, lob, smash, half volley, stoopball and service). By the additive training you can improve the psyche, power, speed and condition of players. You must also think of decreasing energy by trainings. That's why three difficulties of the training are available (weak training, average training and fully training). Thanks to these three difficulties you can prepare the optimum rate of training to your players.

additive training:

2.3 Trainer
There are two types of trainers, a tennis trainer and an additive trainer. Both of them have two main characteristics, quality and personality. Quality influences on size of training and the personality influences on team spirit. One tennis trainer can train maximum four players of various age and sex. The shape trainer can train maximum ten players.
2.4 Experience and raiking
A player gains experience by playing the matches. He has two basic kinds of experience, the experience in a surface and the experience in a tactics. Those acquired experience help to achieve better performance in the match.
2.5 Transfer list
It is allowed to deal in players in Tennismanager. Managers can sell and buy them. To restrict deceptions in trade, the top price of a player can be 10 000 x his AV.
You have a possibility to put a player on the transfer list for the term that you set. You have these possibilities.
Number of days on transfer list Charge
| Days | Price |
| 1 | 1 250 € |
| 2 | 1 000 € |
| 3 | 750 € |
| 4 | 500 € |
| 5 | 750 € |
| 6 | 1 000 € |
| 7 | 1 250 € |
You can arbitrary range the list of players on transfer list. If you are interested in a player, you can bid for him until you set the top price. It is possible to raise the former highest offer about 10% more. If somebody bid the top price for the player, it means 10 000 x his AV, this player is sold and automatically removed from the transfer list. The sale is realizing at the moment of player's deadline on the transfer list. If you bid a player, your money gets removed from your account. If somebody set a higher bid for the same player, your money returns back to your account and you can dispose of the money again.
3 Club and ekonomics
The areal of club is your estate where you can build various types of buildings. Everyone starts the game with 3000 sq m. but this is not your final extent. You can buy up the new estate step by step. Don't forget it is not easy to guard too big area and the maintenance costs get increasing.
3.1 Buildings
You can have the buildings built in an area of your club. If you want to have a building built besides sufficient financial resources you will need also available space in your area. Each building separately influences performance of your employees, players and fans.
| bulding | price, size | it improves |

- A new building you have built includes 50% of its maximum equipment. It means you can upgrade it by purchase of remaining percentage. The extent of the building doesn't change. You can buy up maximum 50% more.
- Special buildings are the tennis courts. There is no possibility to buy them the percentage and they neither improve nor worsen any quality of player. They enable your players to play the matches and acquire important experience in surface and tactic. The court is of 640sq m.
- You can buy up seats to the courts. One costs 20 €. Don't buy too many of them in the beginning not to pay so much for the maintenance. The price of entrance fee is 2 €.
3.2 Staff
Employees help you with the club run. There are five kinds of quality and five kinds of personality of an employee. From their combination their purchase price and their salary are inferred. Quality influences on their performance and personality influences on the team. The guard ensures that there is no vandalism in your club. If you buy new ground think that the area gets enlarged and your current guards have to keep watch on it. Doctor heals the injuries of players. The more doctors you have, the faster is recovery of your players. Physiotherapist helps players to prevent from injuries. Maintenance man decreases maintenance costs and psychologist prevents from decreasing team spirit. Masseur enhances energy to players so they are prepared sooner for the match. Economist values your money in the club account the best way he can do.
3.3 Additives
Additives serve the same purpose as well as the buildings to improve some characteristics of players. The difference is that it is not possible to buy up percentage to the additives and they are available only for some time, than the additives loose the life durability and they must be substituted for some new.
3.4 Economics
On the economics page, you can find all your club’s income and expenses. It’s good to have your all lump expenses (salaries of players, trainers and employees and also the maintenance of your area) covered with your income for the whole season. Otherwise, you gradually have to face bankruptcy.
Income
The category of income includes the Weekly sponsorship money that you receive regularly without changing every week, according to the level of your club league. The Sponsoring bonuses are divided in to revenue, which you gain after a successfully won match in the league (10% of your weekly sponsorship money) and also in to year-end bonuses granted for good ranking in the league (first 4 positions in the ranking). Hired economists assure Cash interest (each of them gains 0.3% in value of your cash). Other potential income represents Entrance fees from matches. You receive as much money as many tickets was sold at home matches. The last category Extra income includes revenue from sales of players, buildings and so on.
Expenses
In Expenses you can find the overview of weekly salaries of your players, trainers and employees. These are lump expenses that are still changeless until you change the number of players, trainers or employees. Next lump expenses include Club maintenance, which means the size of your club area and inner estate. The category Club development includes the charges that arose from purchasing of new buildings, courts, accessories, seats or percentage of buildings upgrading. The last category Extra expenses include charges for hire of employees, trainers, charges for transfer list, fee for getting of a new player and so on.
4 League and regions
A league is organized within a state and is divided to lower leagues according to the number of registered clubs in the state. Every league includes 12 clubs. A league starts with the 1st national league. In case the 1st national league is filled up, the classification of players is followed by 2nd national league. Next it is followed by 1st regional, 2nd regional, 3rd regional up to 5th regional league. Regional leagues are divided into 8 divisions and into the other parallel leagues according to the following scheme:

1st national league (12 teams)
2nd national league (12 teams)
1st regional league x 8 divisions (12 teams x 8 = 96 teams)
2nd regional league x 8 divisions x 8 parallel leagues (12 teams x 8 x 8 = 768 teams)
3rd regional league x 8 divisions x 64 parallel leagues (12 teams x 8 x 64 = 6144 teams)
4th regional league x 8 divisions x 512 parallel leagues (12 teams x 8 x 512 = 49152 teams)
5th regional league x 8 divisions x 4096 parallel leagues (12 teams x 8 x 4096 = 393216 teams)
A state includes the 1st and the 2nd national league and the 1st regional league inclusive of 8 divisions at the beginning of the state existence. When the teams fill up these 120 places, new branches of the 2nd regional leagues according to regions in relevant divisions are launched.
4.1 League progress / decline
1st national league – 2nd national league
- The last 4 teams are knocked out to the 2nd national league
- The first 4 teams of the 2nd national league replace the last 4 teams in the 1st national league
2nd national league – 1st regional league (8 parallel leagues according to the regions)
- The last 8 teams of the 2nd national league are knocked out to the 1st regional leagues according to relevant region to particular divisions.
- Every winner of the 1st regional league (There are 8 winners since there are 8 parallel 1st regional leagues, for each division is one) is progressing to the 2nd national league
1st regional league – 2nd regional league (64 parallel leagues)
- The last 8 teams of the 1st regional league are knocked out to the 2nd regional league. Each of these 8 teams goes in one of 8 branches.
- Every winner of the 2nd regional league (There are 64 winners since there are 64 parallel 2nd regional leagues) is progressing to the 1st regional league
2nd regional league – 3rd regional league (512 parallel leagues according to the regions)
- The last 8 teams of the 2nd regional league are knocked out to the 3rd regional leagues according to their ranking. Each of these 8 teams goes in one of 8 branches.
- Every winner of the 3rd regional league (There are 512 winners since there are 512 parallel 3rd regional leagues) is progressing to the 2nd regional league
The 3rd regional league – 4th regional league (4096 parallel leagues according to the regions)
- The last 8 teams of the 3rd regional league are knocked out to the 4th regional leagues according to their ranking. One team goes in each one of 8 branches.
- Every winner of the 4th regional league (There are 4096 winners since there are 4096 parallel 4th regional leagues) is progressing to the 3rd regional league
The 4th regional league – 5th regional league (32768 parallel leagues according to the regions)
- The last 8 teams of the 4th regional league are knocked out to the 5th regional leagues according to their score. One team goes in each one of 8 branches.
- Every winner of the 5th regional league (There are 32768 winners since there are 32768 parallel 5th regional leagues) is progressing to the 4th regional league.
If there are more than one team of the national league knocked out to the regional league, (It happens in case of decline of more teams in to the same division according to the relevant region), all the more teams decline to the lower regional leagues in the same division. In the end of league pyramid, displaced league teams are forced to leave the division and are replacing the division where the decline arises. Most likely, teams which don't have an owner (robots) are handled this way.
4.2 League round
Every round consists of 7 matches (5 singles and 2 doubles)
- System of the 1st single: first seed vs. first seed
- System of the 2nd single: second seed vs. second seed
- System of the 3rd single: third seed vs. third seed
- System of the 4th single: fourth seed vs. fourth seed
- System of the 5th single: fifth seed vs. fifth seed
- System of the 1st doubles: first home seeded pair vs. randomly chosen opponent pair
- System of the 2nd doubles: second home seeded pair vs. randomly chosen opponent pair
Categories, playing 3 final winning sets:
- Men and junior boys (In the 1st national league and in the 2nd national league) play only 2 winning sets in lower leagues.
- Women, junior girls and all pupils always play only 2 final winning sets.
4.3 Nomination list
A nomination list is the exact name list of players who are playing league for their club in the following season. It is needful to hand over the nomination list till the 2. Sunday midnight of season (till the end of the 2. week). The minimal number of players is 7 and maximal 14. It is not possible to assign new players in nomination list during run season. It means that the team, which a manager creates at the beginning of season, is changeless during all that season.
By the making match couples for the league meeting, a manager has to keep a rule that the player of lower position in nomination list cannot play at higher post than a player of higher position in nomination list. A manager chooses 5 players for 5 singles and 4 players for 2 doubles in league match. Not all of your players in the same category who are in your club are available for choice. Only players listed in nomination list for current season are available.
4.4 Regions and divisions
Regions serve arranging of clubs in to individual divisions. The number of regions is different in individual countries. Each country has its own partition. But the number of divisions is always 8 in an each country. You get associated in a division according to the region in which you are. This system enables that you are in competition for advance with managers from your close surrounding.
5 Match, tactics and weather
You can set an injured player to the match but if they are injured also on the match day they are not playing the match and automatically lose by default. If the same happen to your opponent the winner is chosen by lot.
5.1 Tactics for singles
Normal
Instructions for your player are following: “Play what you can. “ Your player will neither more prefer nor avoid any types of strokes. The lengths of his strokes will always vary. He will not risk so much by placing balls into a court and he will rather prefer safer distance from boundary lines.
Defence
Instructions for your player are following: “Wait for the opponent's failure and don’t take a risk uselessly. “ Your player gets the advantage in success rate of all his strokes, especially forehands, backhands and lobs. On the contrary, not to fail he will try to place all of his strokes into a save spot of the court. Placing the balls next to the lines is too rare. A player with a defensive tactics is very conservative at selection of strokes and he prefers using of basic strokes (forehand and backhand). Matches with the equal defensive rival tactics take on average longer than other matches.
Agressive play
Instructions for your player are following: Avoid the long rallies at all cost! Player with this instructions set will try to end rallies with his offensive style of play. On behalf of this tactic, player can count with better serves and speed. Volleys and smashes will be also improved significantly, however other strokes will require more attention than usually. Balls will be often placed to do sidelines, combination serve-volley, stop-balls or continual net approach during rally will be not rare too.
Creative play
Instructions for your player are following: Play whole-court tennis. This tactic will give your player a little improvement of all his strokes, but at the expanse of speed, which will be weaker than usually. Balls will be placed all over the court, safe strokes to the middle of the court alternating with the risky ones to the lines. Concerning variability of strokes usage, player will be very creative, trying out all of them.
Tempting
Instructions for your player are following: “Force him to go to the net as often as possible.” This not often used tactic represents a new alternative in repertoire of tactics for the match. At the expanse of decreasing quality of basic strokes (fore- and backhand) and serve, other strokes especially stop-balls will be considerably improved. As for stop-balls, there will be no hesitation in using them, moreover, it will be the most used stroke. Because of this, other zones of the court will be targeted less often.
Spanish style
Instructions for your player are following: “Defeat him from the baseline.” Your player will be moving especially around baseline. Thanks to this he will be able to use bonus from this tactic, which improves basic strokes (fore- and backhand) and considerably speed too. Of course the price is the decreased quality of other strokes. He will aim his strokes at the oponent's baseline, but it is possible that he will try to target other zones too. He will not do anything to place balls to the lines, but will not be cotton wool also.
Risky play
Instructions for your player are following: “Just risk it, there is nothing to lose.” Actually, very specific tactic, enabling even a weaker player to score more winners that you would expected him to. Risky play improves basic strokes (fore- and backhand), serve and speed, on the other hand, is significantly decreasing all the others. Your player will not spend much time choosing where to place his strokes, or where to stand, everything will be acceptable. However, it is important to mention, that he will try to score winner-ball almost from every position and situation meaning often aiming at the lines.
Classic play
Instructions for your player are following: “First work out the position, then think about offense.” Your player is more sure of himself while playing basic strokes (fore- and backhand), serves, volleys and his speed is also better than usually. Quality of other strokes is decreased accordingly. Main difference to the Normal play is that long balls occur more often, and player is not avoiding risky strokes placed narrowly to the lines. His choice of strokes will be general.
5.2 Tactics for doubles
Normal
Instructions for your players are following: Play what you have learned. Your players will not show nothing special, placing the strokes all over the court. They will neither risk too much, nor showing the defensive play. The usage of strokes will be determined according to the situation on the court, no one will be missed out.
Elementary play
Instructions for your players are following: Remember, do not be afraid of anything! The improved basic strokes (forehand and backhand), concentrating on serves and volleys at the expense of the other strokes, that is the beginners play. Players will try to succeed with strokes mentioned above, always placing them to the safe zones, just not to make mistakes.
Waiting play
Instructions for your players are following: Attack only if it is necessary. On behalf of this tactic, players can more rely on their fore- end backhands. However, the other strokes will not be the same as they used to. The main difference between this and the Beginners play is in more courageous placing of balls, but still not enough to be well balanced between risky and safe ones. Another difference is higher variety of strokes used in the match.
Aggresive play
Instructions for your players are following: Active approach and good offense, that is the key to win this match! Clear offensive instructions will lead your players to good serves, volleys, smashes and excellent speed. Other strokes will be weaker a little bit. Fast net approaches, tremendous effort to end the rally as soon as possible, these are the marks of Aggressive play.
Creative play
Instructions for your players are following: Time has come for you to show what you got. All strokes improved at expanse of decreased speed, that is what your players will have at disposal while sticking to Creative play. They will show wide palette of strokes, preferring whole-court tennis. They will choose compromise between risky played balls and the ones played the safe way.
Risky play
Instructions for your players are following: I want you to risk everything today. Extremely risky played balls placed narrowly to the sidelines will be seen, when you choose Risk play for your players. Improved basic strokes together with serving and speed will have target to score as many winners as possible. On the other hand, other strokes can cause in the opposite way, so there is nothing left than praying for the luck.
5.3 Weather
In Tennismanager there are 8 kinds of weather (sunny, partly cloudy, cloudy, drizzle, sunny and windy, partly cloudy and windy, cloudy and windy, drizzle and windy). Some of these weather types influence trainable characteristics of players. Sunny weather increases the demands on speed and condition. Cloudy sky disturbs concentrated players and decreases psyche of the player. Drizzle decreases psyche and power of players. The wind is unpleasant at tennis and that's why only power-well prepared players can manage the match. From the previous lines you can find out when there is drizzly and windy weather the match is the most challenging. The weather is generated randomly, with 90% probability of weather forecast for the next day. Every region has its own weather.
6 Advantage balls
Advantage balls (AB) are winning balls, which you can earn by several different successes in the game and with help of which you can cosmeticize your club, or gain comfortable functions. In the version 8 is available one way how to obtain them, and four options where to spend them. These options will be of course gradually supplemented.
Obtaining of the AB: For every winning league match you gain one AB, also if your Club is the overall winner of the round, you gain one more additional ball. For example: your club won the match 5 to 2 on matches. You gain 6 AB and your opponent 2 AB.
How can you use AB in Beta version no.8?
- In player's profile you can change his name.
- In player's profile you can upload his avatar.
- You have the possibility to upload logo of the club for specific time.
- You can access the comfortable "Players in the table" feature.
To summarize, I would like to add that number of ways how to obtain AB is not final. Do not forget the upcoming tournaments. Moreover, we plan to award with AB clubs for final place in the league and even the managers for place in rankings.
7 Tournaments
You can earn a great deal of money through your players in international tournaments. You can obtain points for the international rating only in the international tournaments. In your country and also in the other countries there are national tournaments which are aimed only for players from their countries. Score obtained in these national tournaments is listed in national ratings. There is a special sort of tournaments called private tournaments. After creating of a private tournament you can admit players there who you want and you invited. In these tournaments players cannot gain the points for the ratings but they acquire experience of the surfaces and of the tactics. All of the 3 kinds of tournaments are being played by knockout way up to finals. The deadline of registration to the tournament ends the last midnight before the beginning of the tournament. If there is registered less than 51% of players the tournament doesn't take place. After the deadline seeds are chosen according to the rating and the other players are randomly selected by lot. It is not possible to lodge a protest against the drawn lot. Every day is being played one round of singles and one round of doubles in the tournaments. The subsequent match is being played always on the next day. If the player plans to play two or three matches per day he is allowed to participate only in one of them. It is up to the manager which one he chooses. It is necessary to have regard for case that if the manager prefers the match of smaller importance his club has to pay the fine. In case the player doesn't participate in a tournament match by whatever reason the opponent progresses to the next round without acquisition of experience, without loss of energy and with full pointed and financial profit from that match.
8 How you should behave
Basic conditions

We are always trying to inform you about the outage forward. We regret that it is not possible every time. For that reason the outage can emerge also in case of not having announced it forward. The causes could be errors in the game. The worst scenario could present situations when there is not possible to remove the failures and carry on the game without consequences and the only resolution would be restarting the game one week ago. However we believe that situations are not going to happen often. Our aim is to avoid them completely. In case of this situation, have in your eye that everyone is equally affected. All names of players and trainers are randomly generated in Tennismanager and whatever conformity with names of real personalities is accidental and unintentional.
